March 2024 - This is the sixth qualitative survey conducted with the Washington Art Education Association (WAEA) serving as the host arts education organization since the pandemic in efforts to determine the impact on arts education access, inclusion, instruction, and staffing in the basic education arts subjects that include: dance, media arts, music, theater, and visual arts.
*This survey will be open from March 1, 2024, through April 13, 2024, in an attempt to gather responses from all circles of influence in arts education and arts professionals and teaching artists, including students, regarding the status of arts education and artificial intelligence (AI) - nationally and internationally. The Washington Art Education Association (WAEA) is again the host state arts education organization for the distribution and gathering of this data. Important: All 13 survey responses are anonymous and confidential. *Questions 1 - 12 are required. Seven questions are selected responses, and five questions are constructed responses. Question 13 is an optional constructed response question. The survey takes approximately 5-7 minutes to answer. Thank you to WAEA and to Co-Presidents Rebecca Broyles and Shannon Brennon, past president Jessica Chickadel Garrick, and WAEA Splatter Magazine Editor Cheyenne Gillett Whitney for their on-going support via WAEA for this important research gathering survey regarding the current status of arts education and the impact of AI. *Survey data will be reported in upcoming WAEA Splatter Magazine issues for reference and advocacy for arts education, as well as in other educational publications and presentations regarding this time in history, in efforts to support and report about arts education and educational practices regarding the impact of AI programs on arts education and arts creation, teaching, learning, assessment, and organizations. The survey will be disseminated via social media and personal email contacts to arts educators, state and national arts education organizations, museum and higher education professionals, teaching artists and arts professionals, and state arts education administrators. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and thoughts about arts education and AI via this survey. Please feel invited to share it with others in your circles of influence for their input. We hope to have over 200 responses from all arts education circles of influence regarding arts education for all learners. Questions should be addressed to Dr. AnnRené Joseph, WAEA Research and Knowledge Division Representative at: [email protected] or [email protected] Survey will be open from March 1 through April 13, 2024.
